5 Tips from Your Wedding Photographer & Videographer

This set of tips is something a little different to the rest. It’s more for our benefit, but where you’ll benefit in return!

Tip 1

Give us Creative Control

We hope that by the time you stop here, you already love our work. We want you to make the best decision for you for your big day so if you do choose us, know that we have your back.

The only lists we work from are for family portraits. Any other list we are sent to work from takes the natural flow from the day and while we are trying to work out what shot on the list you want, we’ve missed at least 10 other moments that naturally occurred.

Moral of the the story - we’ll capture it perfectly - you just need to trust us 100%.

Tip 2

HAVE FUN!

All this time planning for one of the biggest days of your lives is here. It’s time to have some fun! If you love our images and films where our couples and their guests look like they are having the best time, well it’s because they are! And you’ll only get photos and films like that if you just let go of any expectations, go with it and ENJOY.

Tip 3

Please acknowledge your photos and/or videos

Self doubt is a real thing for a wedding photographer and videographer. Something I learnt recently is that creatives actually have sensitive hearts. We crave feedback. We crave love. So when we send out the sneak peek and full album and we don’t hear anything back or just a “Thank you, got it”; that really kills us. We pour so much of ourselves into creating something amazing for you and often going way above to ensure your day is perfect and your gallery and videos are spot on… We just want you to be so happy with them. So if you ARE happy, let us know! Tell us if you cried, laughed, or laugh-cried! We need to hear it.

Tip 4

Editing is half the process

Editing is where half the magic happens. Something you might not realise is how much time it actually takes to edit a wedding. It takes time, a lot of it, to curate the perfect mood and style to a wedding gallery, and even longer to create a wedding film. We take literally 1000’s of images on a wedding day - accounting for blinks, getting the composition just right, taking a bunch of photos until everyone in the frame has a face that matches to mood. Then we go through those images to ensure only the best (or worst if it’s hilarious) are selected and then each image processed with our editing style. It’s exactly like processing a film image, just digitally. So yes, it can take WEEKS to go through a wedding album to ensure it’s perfect for you. We never send out anything substandard. We never hand out RAWs.

Tip 5

Download and Back up

When your gallery is sent to you, it’s via an Online Gallery. But it doesn’t matter how your images are delivered to you, always download, save to your computer, then save to another two places at least. You’d be surprised at how little time it takes for a USB to decide it doesn’t want to work anymore. Or when your computer hard drive decides it’s had enough. Back up, back up, back up. We back up our work to two external hard drives and then to the cloud twice.
